We Were Here Tomorrow Proximity Voice Chat & Fixes

Quick answer

Nearby players can hear each other directly. When you separate beyond hearing range, the walkie-talkie appears automatically. If voice fails, check the selected input device, update the game and test both nearby and distant communication.

Quick answer

We Were Here Tomorrow uses proximity voice nearby and a walkie-talkie at distance. The radio appearing when you move away from your partner is normal behavior.

Test nearby and distant communication

Stand together and speak, then separate and try the walkie-talkie. Use the controls shown for your platform and key bindings. Check whether neither player can hear, only one microphone fails, or the radio itself is missing.

Check the microphone setting

Select the intended input device, leave the settings screen and reopen it to check that the choice stayed selected. If it reverts, note that behavior when reporting the problem.

PC voice troubleshooting

  1. Update the game. PC patch 1.1.2 addresses Vivox reconnection, voice not working and disappearing walkie-talkies.
  2. Check your connection, the game’s region setting and the system clock. Shared campus or public networks can restrict voice services.
  3. Verify the game files in Steam.
  4. If the radio is missing or the session is soft-locked, let the host reload the nearest checkpoint through change → start new journey.

Retest both distance conditions afterward. If it still fails, give official support your platform, game version, region, microphone model and exact symptom.
